The top way to harvest more bark is to craft yourself a nicer pick. Any tier pick can pull bark, but higher tiers pull more bark. Yeah, it gets a little more yield but for durability go with starmetal, IMHO. Star metal = 22 yield v. 24 for obsidian. Or go Acheronian, 24 yield and high durability. I honestly don't get why anything besides Acheronian exists on high levels.. I also don't get why only a pick and a sickle exists of it : (.
